The Wellness Group is a grassroots 501(c) (3) non-profit breast and healthy lifestyle organization.
Established in 1994, has become recognized within the community as a critical resource in the African American community. The focus is to promote breast and whole health awareness to under-resourced and under-served African American women throughout Los Angeles County.
As founding President of The Wellness Group, Michelle is extremely passionate about this project because there are no known ways to prevent breast cancer, however, early detection through self-breast awareness, clinical breast examination, and mammography are three ways to reduce the mortality rate.
Breast Cancer ranks second among the causes of cancer death among African Americans exceeded only by lung cancer according to the California Department of Health Services.
Mission: To inform, educate and empower underserved and under-resourced African American women on breast and whole health.
Our vision is to reduce the mortality rate among African American women with education on early detection, self-breast awareness, clinical trials, annual clinical breast examination, and mammography.
